Computational Chemist

We are looking for a Computational Chemist with the right skillset to complement our teams working on the development of innovative privacy-preserving drug discovery platforms for our high-profile customers. You are responsible for bringing computational chemistry and cheminformatics expertise to the table and contributing to and leading highly scientific customer projects.

Right now, we are building out a handful of R&D data ecosystems with large enterprise customers – our focus industries are pharma & healthcare, chemical R&D and manufacturing. We productize our general-purpose tech core for private data sharing and we heavily ramp up our business development to win the next data ecosystems with leading industry players. The use cases we address are primarily related to R&D acceleration empowered by machine learning applications – the data ecosystems are the foundation for a breakthrough in those use cases.

About this position

In this role you are working on a cutting-edge drug discovery driven platform empowered by privacy preserving machine learning technologies. You are part of an interdisciplinary team and closely interact with colleagues from data science, software development, cryptography and privacy preserving computations. You contribute to the projects’ success by complementing the team with your expertise and striving for high quality scientific results for our customers. You act as the link between the customer and our technical team and help to advance scientific projects by means of state-of-the-art computational chemistry and machine learning techniques. You will be the expert and contact of trust when it comes to decisions on product elements that deal with, e.g., drug discovery, or QSAR models. Alongside this, you’ll be involved in commercial and business development activities, helping to identify and develop growth opportunities for the company. In this role, you will also strengthen our external visibility and scientific excellence through engaging with the scientific departments of our customers and beyond.

What you bring to the table

  • Background and/or professional work experience in (bio)-chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, bioinformatics, or related disciplines.

  • Profound knowledge of scripting and programming languages, preferably Python.
  • Experience with deep learning libraries such as Pytorch or Tensorflow.
  • Strong passion for science, and ability to work well within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent presentation skills along with the ability to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team environment with strong focus and ambition.
  • Strong scientific background with an understanding of the drug discovery process.
  • More than 3 years of experience in computational drug design, preferably in an industrial setting, is a plus.
  • Track record of publications and presentations at scientific meetings that demonstrate the application of computational chemistry to drug discovery is a plus.
  • Experience in hardware setup, networking, software deployment and configuration are highly valued.
